Petition: Put Babar Ahmad on trial in the UK

October 12, 2011 in News

If you were tortured, abused and spat on. What would you do if no one came to support you?

Babar Ahmad was arrested on in 2003 by anti-terrorist police. By the time he arrived in the custody, he had sustained 73 injuries, the officers had beaten him with fists and knees, stamped on his bare feet with boots, rubbed metal handcuffs on his forearm bones and mocked the Islamic faith. :(

Lets unite together as an Ummah, this case saddens me so much as I’m sure it saddens you too. We are 1 Body. 1 Heart. 1 Blood. 1 Ummah.

Take out 30 seconds.. 1. Sign the petition NOW, and 2. Share this NOW.

Babar Ahmad is a British Citizen who has been detained in the UK for 7 years without trial fighting extradition to the USA under the controversial no-evidence-required Extradition Act 2003. In June 2011, the Houses of Parliament, Joint Committee on Human Rights urged the UK government to change the law so that Babar Ahmad’s perpetual threat of extradition is ended without further delay. Since all of the allegations against Babar Ahmad are said to have taken place in the UK, we call upon the British Government to put him on trial in the UK and support British Justice for British Citizens.

Would you not sign it if it was a member of your family?

Hertz suspends Muslim workers over taking a break for Prayers

October 12, 2011 in News

Hertz the car rental firm have disgracefully suspended Muslim airport shuttle bus drivers for simply taking a prayer break during their shifts.

Thirty-four drivers have been suspended since last Friday, when managers stood outside the Muslim prayer room and warned entering workers that they would be suspended if they didn’t clock out before praying, according to a spokesman from the Teamsters union Local 117, which represents the workers. The union alleges that Hertz singled out the employees based on religion — a charge that Hertz vehemently denies.

“It is common practice that if you’re taking mini-breaks, if you have a lull in your work and go get a cup of tea or smoke a cigarette, two or three minute breaks throughout the day, you don’t have to clock out,” said Tracey Thompson, secretary and treasurer of the union.

“Individuals take breaks, go across the street to Starbucks to get a cup of coffee during intermittent breaks, and this wasn’t focused on anybody doing anything else but praying. They made it about prayer.”

What makes this story even more upsetting is that Hertz ordered their Gestapo Managers to stand watch outside the Prayer room then warn Muslim brothers they would be suspended while on their way to pray if they did not clock out.

The workers, who make less than $10 an hour without benefits or vacation pay, were suspended without pay beginning Sept. 30, and have not yet received notice of when they will go back to work

My advice to Muslims around the world is when next thinking about renting a car from Hertz please bear in mind and picture those Hertz Managers outside a Muslim prayer room verbally assaulting Muslims whose only crime is wishing to pray.

Sufi channel (Noor TV) fined £75,000 for encouraging audience to donate money in return for prayers

September 29, 2011 in News

An Islamic TV channel that encouraged viewers to donate money in return for prayers has been fined £75,000 by Ofcom.

The media regulator said “susceptible members of the audience may have been persuaded to donate money to Noor TV when they would not otherwise have done so”.

Noor TV, which is owned by Al Ehya Digital Television, broadcasts on the Sky satellite service. Ofcom took action after the channel’s Saturday Night Special programme which was broadcast on 13 November last year. It included the offer of a “special gift” for a donation of £1,000 or the offer of a prayer that would improve the health, wealth and good fortune of the donor and their family.

Ofcom said it was “extremely concerned that although viewers were told that their donations were for the purpose of funding Noor TV’s programming, the funds donated … were not in fact received by Noor TV and therefore were not used for their stated purpose”.

The regulator added: “Viewers should not be invited to make a donation in return for anything other than to make programmes or the provision of the service.

“Further, appeals for funds should not improperly exploit the susceptibilities of the audience. Ofcom considered that vulnerable people, such as those experiencing financial or emotional difficulties, may be unduly encouraged to give donations.

“In particular, Ofcom considered it unacceptable for a licensee to persuade viewers to donate money on the basis of inducements such as offering a prayer for or on behalf of the donor; the promise of better health; or that a religious figure will create further wealth for donors or take particular care of donors.”

The £75,000 penalty is payable to the government.

Palestinians to apply for statehood to UN today

September 23, 2011 in News

As many of you are aware Palestine used to be a peaceful prosperous country in the middle east with Muslim, Christians & Jews living together before the illegal occupation of Israel. Since then Israel has progressively, with the help of UN/US, UK and France, has taken over all most the whole of Palestine and called it Israel. See the map below:

1945-Current

Today Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is due to submit his bid to the UN for recognition of a Palestinian state, not as a country but as a state.

He is expected to present a letter in the next few hours requesting admission to the UN shortly before addressing the General Assembly to argue the case.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to speak soon after, and is expected to denounce the move with the backing of US.

Strangely enough the Palestinians don’t even wish to seek the recognition of borders from year 1947 but from 1967 – which includes only the West Bank. So East Jerusalem and Gaza.

Numerious countries has backed Palestine for their statehood, including:

And many more countries and many more Muslims & Non-Muslims…

Troy Davis executed, protests innocence to the end

September 22, 2011 in News

A Georgia man has been executed, 20 years after he was convicted of the fatal shooting of a police officer and despite a plea for clemency from almost a million people worldwide.

Troy Davis, 42, who had continued to maintain his innocence, died by lethal injection at 11.08am, Georgia time (1.08pm AEST) after desperate efforts by his defence team failed to win a stay.

His  execution was delayed by an excruciating 3½ hours as they awaited a final ruling by the US Supreme Court.

Davis had been about to be strapped to a gurney to be injected, as state witnesses assembled to view his execution, when the schedule was interrupted. But the court ultimately denied him a reprieve.

Hundreds of supporters, gathered outside the jail in Jackson, about 60 kilometres south-east of Atlanta, fell into despair once the decision was known. There was a huge police presence to quell any eruption of anger.

No weapon, DNA evidence or surveillance footage was found to link Davis to the crime. His defence team pointed the finger at a second man who had been with Davis on that evening and who later became the prosecution’s star witness.

Petitioners had included Pope Benedict, Nobel peace laureates Jimmy Carter and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a former FBI director and at least 40 members of the US Congress.

A New York Times editorial called the execution “a grievous wrong”.

Davis had spent Wednesday saying goodbye to about 25 visitors before refusing a last meal. He also spent time praying with his local pastor, who described the delay in his execution as “a human rights violation” and “a cruel and unusual punishment”.

Speaking through a lawyer on Tuesday, he said:

“I will not stop fighting before I’ve taken my last breath. Georgia is prepared to snuff out the life of an innocent man.”

Davis’s defence team had sought a polygraph, or lie detector, test for their client before his scheduled execution in a bid to win a further stay, but that had been denied by prison officials.

When it was time to deliver his last words, Davis’ seized the moment, speaking quickly and confidently.
He told the MacPhail family he was not responsible for the death.

“I am innocent. The incident that happened that night is not my fault,” he said.

Davis urged his supporters to “continue to fight the fight.” And just before the lethal drugs coursed through his veins, he offered a message to his executioners:

“God have mercy on your souls.”

Davis blinked his eyes rapidly. He squeezed them tight. The curtain closed.

Clarity on false rumors regarding the day of Eid 2011

September 18, 2011 in News, Ramadan

There have been false rumours circulating over the internet and media that Eid ul Fitr was celebrated on the wrong date and that the sighting of the new moon was incorrect. It seems that one falsely written article designed to show disunity amongst the ummah and also to discredit the Saudi Arabian Government has been repeated and circulated by many websites and forums without any proof or authority given on where the news originated. The Saudi Governments official website states the date to be the 7th Shawwal 1432 Hijri on the 5th of September 2011 which correctly equates that Eid was celebrated on the correct date of Tuesday 30th August 2011.

To clarify:

  • Eid ul Fitr was celebrated on the correct date: Tuesday 30th August 2011
  • All media articles pertaining to the Saudi Government admitting to making any such mistake are completely false.
  • The Saudi Government has not paid 1 Billion Rayal in Kufara also stated by false news articles.

The misunderstanding could have arisen from Umm al Qura‘s official website as it states it is the 8th Shawwal on the 5th September 2011 which is one day ahead of the Hijri date. This website clearly states on its homepage that they calculate the month by the technical birth of the new moon . The introduction on the website goes on to state that this does cause confusion during Eid. As it is well known that Eid is declared on the actual physical sighting of the lunar crescent by the naked eye which is the correct method for declaring Eid and NOT by the birth of the new moon.

Allah says in the Quraan, O you who believe. When a faasiq comes to you with news and tidings, investigate thoroughly. (Surah Hujuraat).

If you still have any doubts about Saudi Arabia’s decision about Eid then contact Saudi embassies directly or review the Saudi government official sites. Do not believe the lies of fake websites and false sources.

Liverpool FC striker under investigation after claiming 9/11 was work of Illuminati & not of terrorists

September 14, 2011 in News, Sport

A YOUNG Liverpool FC striker was today under investigation by the club after claiming 9/11 was not the work of terrorists.

Reserve team striker Nathan Eccleston, 20, has caused outrage after his posting on Twitter on the 10th anniversary of the atrocity.

In it, he claimed the attacks were “an accident” and that he believed the “Illuminati” – a shadowy society spread across the world – were responsible.

Eccleston, who has so far made nine appearances for the Reds, wrote: “I aint going to say attack don’t let the media make u believe that was terrorist that did it. #O.T.I.S.”

OTIS stands for ‘Only The Illuminati Succeed’.

Now senior officials at the US-owned club have told the Manchester-born player he faces an investigation into his posting.

Today, the Tweet had been removed from his site.

An LFC spokesman said: “The club takes this matter extremely seriously and senior club officials have informed Nathan Eccleston that we are undertaking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these postings and will decide on an appropriate course of action.”

Fans were split over the striker’s actions.

Some took to internet message boards to defend him as “only young”, saying he was allowed to voice an opinion.

But most slammed him, with some calling for him to never wear the shirt again and others labelling him as “idiotic, misinformed and basically stupid”.

Eccleston joined LFC from Bury aged 15 and has spent time out on loan at Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic.

He gave up his number 39 shirt from last season’s squad when Craig Bellamy returned to Anfield last month.

Libya’s new leader calls for state based on Sharia law

September 13, 2011 in News

The chairman of Libya’s transitional government gave his first public address in Tripoli on Monday, exhorting thousands of cheering Libyans in the central square to support a democratic system that honours Islam, respects the rule of law and repudiates the personality cult of Moammar Gaddafi.

Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the transitional government leader, addressed a rowdy crowd of thousands in Martyrs Square in central Tripoli, a site that until recently was famous for pro-Gadhafi rallies. Flanked by a few dozen revolutionary leaders in their largest public gathering since rebel forces stormed into the capital on Aug. 21, he called on Libyans to build a state based on the rule of law.

“No retribution, no taking matters into your own hands and no oppression. I hope that the revolution will not stumble because of any of these things,” he said.

“We will not accept any extremist ideology, on the right or the left,” Mr. Abdul-Jalil added. “We are a Muslim people, for a moderate Islam, and will stay on this road.”

“We strive for a state of the law, for a state of prosperity, for a state that will have Islamic sharia law the basis of legislation.”

The speech capped a day of new international recognition of the rebel National Transitional Council as Libya’s legitimate government, as well as reminders that Col. Gadhafi and his followers remain a threat to that government’s stability.

Earlier, forces loyal to Col. Gadhafi attacked an important oil refinery at the Mediterranean port of Ras Lanuf, and the transitional government said at least 15 anti-Gadhafi fighters had died. But in a hopeful sign for the council, China, the last major power to withhold recognition of its legitimacy, officially changed positions and accepted it.

Abdulrahman Busin, a spokesman for the council’s military operations, said the loyalist attack on Ras Lanuf was apparently a response to news that the council had taken steps to restart oil production, which had been one of the country’s major contributors of income before the conflict began. He said that forces allied with the council were still fighting loyalists to bring an industrial area in Ras Lanuf back under control. “We have them surrounded,” he said.

The transitional government has not revealed which of the country’s oil facilities are working again, but has said it was attempting to get all reopened as soon as possible. Ras Lanuf is one of Libya’s main oil installations.

There were other indications Monday that efforts to declare complete victory over Col. Gadhafi and his holdouts were moving slowly or stalled. NATO, which helped the rebel forces in a bombing campaign against Col. Gadhafi’s military, said its work remained unfinished in Libya. Two days have passed since a deadline for remaining Gadhafi loyalists to surrender, with no indication that they have lost their will to fight.

And while leading figures of the deposed government and Col. Gadhafi’s family have fled – his son Saadi Gadhafi was the latest to escape, seeking sanctuary in Niger over the weekend – Col. Gadhafi’s whereabouts remained unknown. Al-Rai, a television channel based in Syria that has become a conduit for pro-Gadhafi messages, broadcast a statement Monday that it said had been written by Col. Gadhafi, denouncing his Libyan adversaries as traitors and vowing: “We will not surrender Libya to colonialism.”
