Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus – Muslim Version

January 17, 2012 in Videos

A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. This is not an attack upon Christians, so please don’t take this as offensive, it’s just a means of education and let people know what Jesus was truly sent with. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it’s core Jesus’ gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification.

Horrified internet viewers in New Zealand have seen live pictures of a helicopter becoming entangled in cables and crashing to the ground.

It was helping install a giant Christmas tree on Auckland’s waterfront when its blades appeared to catch cables attached to scaffolding causing it to break up about 25ft above ground.

The dramatic footage was filmed by TV New Zealand and was being broadcast live on their website.

The B2 Squirrel helicopter’s tail is seen breaking up, causing the rest of the aircraft to spin round and crash.

The pilot was seen being thrown around the cabin but incredibly he survived and was seen walking away from the scene with the help of two workmen involved in the project.

He is now receiving medical attention in hospital but is believed to have avoided serious injury.

Australian TV ads aim to portray Islamic values

November 4, 2011 in Videos

AN ISLAMIC lobby group will begin a national TV campaign today aimed at improving understanding of their religion and tackling the ”image problem” of Australian Muslims.

MyPeace spokesman, Diaa Mohamed, said the aim of the ads was to show the Australian public true Islamic values, and break the cycle of Muslims being blamed for violence and social problems. Mr Mohamed said there was ”definitely an image problem in this country with regard to Muslims”.

”These are the values that we as Muslims are taught to live by and I wanted to show the Australian public that this is what Islam is, not what you’ve been seeing or reading. I think one of the criticisms, and rightly so, is that we’re not accessible enough, we keep to ourselves, so I thought OK, let’s address that,” Mr Mohamed said.

He said the public could not be blamed for misunderstanding Islamic values.

The ads, understood to be the first Islamic ad campaign on Australian TV, will screen on channels Seven and Nine for about five weeks. The campaign has been funded by MyPeace with contributions from some local Muslims.

Mr Mohamed, an Australian Muslim who has a background in marketing, started MyPeace about six months ago with the aim of boosting understanding of Islam. He said an ad campaign, though very expensive, was an obvious way to achieve that goal.
”When people are selling burgers or shoes or want to improve the image of a particular product they go on TV, they do billboards, bus advertising. I wanted to take this message to the masses.”

Video: Antelope takes out mountain biker

October 12, 2011 in Videos

A South African mountain biker was lucky to escape with just a stiff neck after being knocked off his bike by an antelope.

Evan van der Spuy, who is just 17, was racing through the savannah of the KwaZulu-Natal province when he was ambushed.

The animal in question was a Red Hartebeest, a large antelope found in southern Africa that can weigh up to 330 pounds.

The attack was filmed by a biker behind Van der Spuy named Travis Walker, and despite Walker shouting “watch the buck”, Van der Spuy was blindsided and thrown to the ground by the flying animal.

Van der Spuy, initially in agony, later took to Twitter to reveal there was no lasting damage.

Story of a Father and Son | Rashed & Salem (English subtitles)

October 9, 2011 in Inspiring Islamic Story, Videos

SubhanAllah this is one of the most amazing stories I have ever heard. There are many lessons one can learn from it.

This story has everything in it – sadness, joy, optimism, laughter and tears.

It revolves around an irresponsible married man in his early 30s who is shocked to find out his first child is born blind. He fails to show any sort of love to him, but soon after is deeply affected by him.

The speaker is Khalid Rashid. Many thanks to user ‘NiyyatAlinsan’ for translating

Also, the nasheed in the background does not have music if it may sound like it does to any of you.

Oscar-winning actor and screen legend Sir Ben Kingsley has taken the starring role in a short feature film about the scientific heritage of Muslim civilisation. The mini-movie, entitled “1001 Inventions and the Library of Secrets”, accompanies a global touring exhibition which was previously open to the public at the Science Museum in London.

The 1001 Inventions exhibition completed its record-breaking residency at London’s Science Museum with 400,000 visitors in the first half of 2010, followed by a blockbuster residency at the iconic and historic Sultan Ahmed Square in Istanbul with a further 400,000 visitors over a seven-week period. The exhibition then opened at the New York Hall of Science in December 2010, welcoming an additional 250,000 during its five-month US premiere. The next venue on the 1001 Inventions exhibition’s global tour is the California Science Center in Los Angeles where it will reside from May 27th 2011 until December 31st 2011.
In the movie, Sir Ben takes on the role of a mysterious and cantankerous librarian who takes a group of school children on an enlightening journey to meet pioneering scientists and engineers from the history of Muslim civilisation.
